HORROR MOVIES of the 1980s. MUMMY MOVIES

After an absence of mummy movies in the late 70's, there were some movies early in the decade to renew the interest.

The US and French movie posters for Awakening 1980.

Stephanie Zimbalist plays Charlton Heston's daughter who has been possessed by the an evil spirit of a mummy's tomb.

The Spanish poster had completely different graphics than the US and had more of a vintage look.

Based on Bram Stoker's book The Jewel of the Seven Stars first published in 1903.

In 1981, Dawn of the Mummy was released. The Spanish poster has the same mummy art as the US poster.

This low budget movie was bad enough to have been called Yawn of the Mummy.

In 1987, Monster Squad was released to mixed reviews. The movie was scary and silly at the same time.

Besides the mummy, this movie also includes other classic horror monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf and even the Gill Man from the Creature From the Black Lagoon movies.
